CELPIP Certificate Number: What IRCC Actually Wants

IRCC's forms ask for a 'language test result form or certificate number'. You open your CELPIP score report and nothing on it says certificate, because CELPIP doesn't issue one. The number the form wants is the Registration Number on your Official Score Report, and the PIN beside it is what organizations use to verify your scores. Both sit at the top of the PDF.

Your result comes as an Official Score Report. It shows up in your CELPIP account 2 to 4 business days after the test, you download it as a PDF, and that file is your proof of the result. Hard copy reports were discontinued, so nothing arrives in the mail.

'Certificate', 'score card', 'result form': those names come from other tests and from the wording on immigration forms. CELPIP has one document with one set of identifiers. It stays downloadable in your account for two years from your test date, roughly the same window the scores stay valid for immigration. Save the PDF the day your scores arrive.

1. Sign in to your CELPIP account.

2. Click 'Check Scores'.

3. Download the PDF of your Official Score Report.

4. Look at the top of the report. The Registration Number and PIN are printed there.

The Registration Number is what goes into IRCC's certificate number field, in Express Entry and on paper forms alike. The PIN is the verification key: through CELPIP's Score and Identity Verification System, IRCC and employers use it to confirm your scores are real.
