    How CELPIP Speaking works

A short primer on the official CELPIP format.

The CELPIP Speaking section is short — about 15–20 minutes for all eight tasks combined — but covers a wide range of demands: giving advice, recounting personal experience, describing scenes, making predictions, comparing options, handling difficult situations, expressing opinions, and describing unusual scenes.

Most test-takers find Task 5 (Comparing and Persuading) and Task 8 (Unusual Situation) the toughest because of their structured argument and descriptive demands. Recording yourself and listening back to the transcript is the fastest way to spot filler words and weak transitions.
